The event took place on April 18, 2008, the emotional taking place in the presence of more than 100 guests, from approximately 25 clubs in the country. The ceremony was held by Ovidiu Cos, the District 2241 governor, supported by Martha Mocanu – governor of District 2241 2008-2009, Petre Diculescu – district secretary and Vasile Bunea – assistant governor. The godfather of VARANA Rotary Club Focsani was Rotary Club Bacau, which, by President 2008-2009 Sorin Petrescu, handed on stage the Rotarian signs: collar and bell.
The ceremony itself was held at the Municipal Theatre Hall, in the presence of the press and local officials and ended with a concert given by the Pastorala choir in Focsani. Celebration event was animated by children from Dance Club “Elite” and the songwriter Mihai Margineanu.
