On 18.05.2017 took place at the Gymnasium School in Vulturu commune, Vrancea county, an action that initiated the start of a new project of the Rotary Club VARANA Focșani which has as its theme “Education on water and sanitary hygiene” for students. This initiative was initiated by Rotary VARANA due to the constant concern to get involved in the social life of our community but also on the occasion of World Water Day 2017.
This new project of the Club is intended to inform, raise awareness and educate the younger generation – and not only – about the rational use of water, as well as to ensure personal and public health through hygiene. The final goal of the project is to educate the children in schools, especially those in the rural area, for the protection of the environment, but without neglecting the personal hygiene, so necessary for the conduct of a healthy life.
The members of the Rotary Club VARANA together with the teachers of the Vulturu School presented to the students information and materials containing details about water, as a natural source of life, and about the efficient and rational way of using it. The importance of hand washing and the utility of a daily routine to be respected both at home and at school for sanitary hygiene were emphasized. The messages were supported by brochures, leaflets and informative posters, with simple and direct indications, whose consultation can have a permanent effect on how to understand the problems related to a healthy life.
Educating students about washing their hands with soap and clean water is a method that leads to the most effective technique for protecting public and individual health, also helping to spread diseases. This project will continue in other educational institutions, the purpose being to inform students, teachers and auxiliaries, parents, as well as the other parties involved in the educational process, both on the water – as a limited natural source, and on the sanitary hygiene – as a component of the health on which the future of future generations depends.
