Oriented to important areas of our community’s life, one of them being children’s health, Rotary Club VARANA Focșani supported the organization of a Romanian-Israeli seminar on topical issues in the field of pediatrics, based in particular on the organization and coordination of the medical teams in the emergency departments, a place where prompt and correct medical intervention makes the difference between life and death.
Organized in Piatra Neamț between 22-23.04.2017 by Rotary Club Piatra Neamț 2005 and the team of mountain bike doctors Neamț (dr. Letița Dămoc, dr. Gabriela Bercea, dr. Suzana Constantinescu), the course of “Emergency Medicine in Pediatrics” a It was designed to provide basic knowledge in pediatric emergency medicine to healthcare providers who, through their departments, provide medical or surgical assistance to children.
The course provided the participating physicians with the information necessary for the management (evaluation and prompt therapeutic intervention) of pediatric, medical and traumatic emergencies, both in the hospital and in the hospital – the ward rooms of the pediatric units and the emergency units / compartments.
The Rotary Club VARANA was represented by the doctor Mariana Gruia, a pediatrician at the Focsani Hospital, and the readers of the course at the second edition were the doctors from the Rambam Health Care Campus in Israel: Prof. Dr. Itai Shavit, director of the department of pediatric emergencies, Dr. Naghib Nasrallah, emergency medicine specialist, Dr. Balla Uri, emergency medicine specialist, and Mahroom Enbal Hanna, intensive care specialist.
The current therapeutic protocols were discussed in some of the most frequent and serious diseases encountered in pediatric emergency medicine, the course also having a practical part, in which all participants were involved, either individually or as a team. Case simulations were possible, with the attending physicians having handy resuscitation mannequins connected to surveillance monitors, so that the impact of the medical decisions on the vital parameters of the “patient” could be seen as in real situations.
Attended doctors from pediatric specialties, emergency medicine from pediatric departments, family medicine, pediatric surgery, from several medical centers – Iasi, Târgu Neamț, Piatra Neamț, Vaslui, Bacău, Vatra Dornei, but also two young specialists from Ukraine.
This initiative gave the participants the opportunity to apply the knowledge from the course, but it also provided the hope that this seminar will continue, to increase the performance in medical practice, for the benefit of the small patients.
